Terms of Service

The QR guestbook lets a host collect guest video messages, photos and written notes through a phone browser. Hosts manage contributions in a private library and download individual media or export notes. The iPad app is a separate guestbook that stores content on the iPad.

Hosts are responsible for guest consent, the content collected at their event and permission to use or share it. Keep your own copies of content you want to preserve.

You own the recordings, photos, event details, prompts, and exports you create with Votive. You are responsible for getting any permissions or consents needed from guests and for deciding how content is shared after export.

Do not use Votive to record people without appropriate notice or consent, violate privacy rights, infringe intellectual property, harass others, or create unlawful content.

The QR price is USD 45 per event, as of November 2026, paid through Stripe when checkout is enabled. A full refund is available only before the first stored guest contribution of any kind, including a video, photo or written note. Once a refund is requested, that event cannot be purchased again, even if the refund response is interrupted.

The iPad app is purchased separately through the App Store. Apple handles its payments and refunds.

You may not misuse Votive, attempt to reverse engineer it except where allowed by law, interfere with its operation, use it for unlawful surveillance, or use exported content in a way that violates another person's rights.

As of November 2026, videos can be up to 500 MiB each. Photos can be up to 25 MiB and 50 megapixels each, in JPEG, PNG, WebP or HEIC/HEIF format. HEIC previews depend on browser support. Hosts can set video duration and per-device limits and a collection closing date.

The QR service requires an internet connection and available browser storage. Test your event page before use. We may update or suspend the service and cannot guarantee uninterrupted access or compatibility with every phone. Stored content remains while the event exists; request deletion through our support page.

Votive is provided as is and as available. To the fullest extent allowed by law, we disclaim implied warranties, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.

To the fullest extent allowed by law, Votive will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or lost-profit damages, or for loss of recordings caused by device failure, deletion, storage limits, user action, or missed backups.

We may suspend or terminate access for unlawful content, misuse or violations of these terms. To ask to close your account or delete event content, use our support page. Closing guest collection alone does not delete content.

We will publish changes on this page with a new effective date.

These terms are governed by the laws of the United States and the State of California, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, unless local consumer law requires otherwise.
